How to create CSV files for Rank Math?

WP Core Fields The post title is a mandatory field in WP core fields. We can also provide Post Content, Postdate, Post Author, etc.

Rank Math SEO Pro Fields

Focus Keyword

We can get a ranking for a post/page by adding a focus keyword in SEO. By default, Rank Math allows adding 5 keywords per post.

Rank math Focus Keyword

Pillar Content

Pillar content is a unique Rank Math feature. This helps to attract extra SEO recommendations. If you want to enable this option in WordPress, mention the value as “on” in the CSV file.

Rank Math robots Meta

In this section, we have custom Meta like Index, No Index, Nofollow, No Archive, No Image Index, and No Snippet. For this option, first, we have to enable post-robots meta. index: This is a default one. Instruct the search engine to include the page in the index. noindex: Instruct the search engine to not include the page in the index. nofollow: Instruct the search engine to not follow any links on the page. noarchive: Not allowing a cached copy of this page on search results. noimageindex: Instruct to not allow any images on a page. nosnippet: not allowing snippet (Meta description) on the search result of the page. If you want to enable this option, mention the value as 1 is a CSV file.

Advanced Robots Meta

This helps us to determine our content in search results. Here we have three options to configure. Snippet – We can set the maximum length of text characters for a page. The default value is “-1”. Video Preview – Set the maximum duration (in seconds) for a preview. The default value is “-1”. Image Preview – We have three choices to set the image preview on the page. “Large, Standard, and None”. We have to mention these values with a comma separator in the CSV file. (Eg: -1,-1,large)

Canonical URL

This option helps to direct us to the main page if we have duplicate content.

Redirect

This option is disabled by default. This option helps us in various ways like updating the URL, moving the website to a new domain, creating temporary redirect URLs, and redirecting to a new URL from the old one. There are two things we need to mention in our CSV file while setting up the Rank Math Redirect Option.

Redirection Type:

Select any one of the following types based on our use.

  • 301 for Permanent Move
  • 302 for Temporary Move
  • 307 for temporary Redirect
  • 410 for Content Deleted
  • 451 for Content unavailable for Legal Reasons

Destination URL:

Mention the URL where we want to redirect our visitors.

Schema

We can select any one of the options from more schema types.

Headline – Set an SEO headline for a page/post

Description – Set a default description for a page/post.

Article Type – Prefer any one of the article types from these three (Article/ Blog Post/ News Article)

Speakable Schema – This option lets our article be speech-friendly. When enabling this option, have to fill the cssSelector field by providing any particular content value in the CSV file.

General Title

Give the SEO title of the post in the rank_math_title field.

In this field mention the permanent link of a post/page in the CSV file under wp_old_slug. In this, the first part is the domain name and the second one is a slug.

General description field

Provide any text characters as a description of a post in Rank Math.

Social media in Rank Math

This option helps to notify the followers about new posts/pages. We can also control how our content is displayed. Facebook – We can give a specific “Facebook Title”, “Facebook Description” and “Facebook Image”. We also leave this blank, by default, it will assign the post title, description, and image. Also, add an icon overlay to the thumbnail, here we have two options: “Play Icon” & “GIF Icon”.

Twitter – By default, it will copy the relevant data from Facebook. We can disable this option and can give a specific “Twitter Title”, “Twitter Description” and “Twitter Image”. Also, add an icon overlay to the thumbnail, here we have two options: “Play Icon” & “GIF Icon”. Specify any Card Type from “Summary Card with Large Image”, “Summary Card”, “App Card”, and “Player Card”.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I import redirects in Rank Math?

You can import the RankMath redirect directly from the Rank math Plugin or you can use the WP CSV  importer to import your redirections along with its assigned posts/pages.

To import redirects into Rank Math, you can follow these steps:

  1. Prepare your redirects: First, make sure you have your redirects prepared in a compatible format. Rank Math supports CSV files for importing redirects.
  2. Format your CSV file: Create a CSV file with two columns: “source_url” and “target_url”. The “source_url” column should contain the URLs you want to redirect from, and the “target_url” column should contain the URLs you want to redirect to.
  3. Access Rank Math: Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the Rank Math settings.
  4. Go to the Redirections Module: Once in the Rank Math settings, find and click on the “Redirections” module. This is where you manage all your redirects.
  5. Import Redirects: Look for an option to import redirects. Depending on the version of Rank Math you’re using, this option might be in different places. Usually, it’s either a button or a link that says “Import”.
  6. Select your CSV file: When prompted, select the CSV file you prepared earlier that contains your redirects.
  7. Map the Columns (if necessary): If Rank Math asks you to map columns, ensure that the “source_url” column from your CSV file is mapped to the appropriate field for the source URL, and the “target_url” column is mapped to the appropriate field for the target URL.
  8. Complete the Import: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the import process. Once done, Rank Math should have imported all your redirects from the CSV file.
  9. Verify Redirects: After importing, it’s always a good idea to verify that the redirects have been imported correctly. You can do this by visiting some of the source URLs and ensuring that they are redirected to the correct target URLs.

By following these steps, you should be able to import redirects into Rank Math successfully.
