As planned WordPress Ultimate CSV Importer Pro Version 4.0 BETA is a completely modified importer to keep the simplicity of all WordPress import modules without compromising the performance factor. The bug fixes, improvements, and newly added features make this release a unique one. We planned to have a live demo of the BETA release and it will be kept until marked as stable. Users can test drive and share their thoughts for more improvements. Looking forward to your comment on this.
Major Improvements to Current Features
The major switch in the mapping section of the 4.0 version is WP fields are moved to the left fixed column and CSV headers to the right drop-down options. Now users have to map/select their CSV headers against WP fields in the left which was straight opposite to prior versions. This allows us to add more features in the near future and has more flexibility than before.
Now new improved Ajax based save feature enables to autosave all options on the fly while selecting the required options. No more jerks or issues when you forget to save switching options in the settings module.
In import, the mapping section has been modified completely. To make mapping simple and to handle hundreds of attributes all WP fields are grouped. This feature improvement makes easy to map only the required set of fields and user can skip others. Also, plugin-based grouping makes it more simple to select and map now.
Summarize view is another improvement to import mapping option, enables to cross-check their mapping set up just before the import.
Advanced Custom Fields (ACF PRO )
The support for Advanced Custom Fields plugin has been improved well to support features and fields of their latest version.
The improved real-time log section and log messages can tell about remaining records, current processing records, etc. It also allows users to download these logs at any time in the log manager(Managers -> Log Manager).
The improvements to the Reusable Advanced Mapping Template manager are the template edit option. It is more flexible now than before to edit any saved mapping templates from the template manager(Managers -> Templates).
The improved export module has more advanced exclusion options and filters for a more controlled export of data from WordPress. There are more options, features, and controls in planned development pipeline.
Included New Features in 4.0
The long awaiting feature improvement is media handling for inline content. Users can now assign as many images they need as predefined shortcodes in the CSV post content column. To improve the performance the image shortcodes can be populated after the CSV import which will handle image imports separately to avoid any breakage or delays in import. Added to that handling featured image as shortcode improves the total performance. The images related to the shortcodes in CSV can be bundled as a zip file and imported.
Users can use [WPIMPINLINE:image.jpg] shortcode in CSV for inline image handling. For featured image use [WPIMPFEATURED:image.jpg] as shortcode is CSV. Users can use advanced shortcode manager to import and assign images for all post imported using a CSV. This method will improve total performance, memory management and speed of the import process.
Now update option is explicitly placed in the upload section. Users can update just like performing an import. The importer updates even the existing Posts, (i.e) Posts that are not imported by our plugin. Little care is needed to use these features and it is advised to take a backup before the import to roll back if anything went wrong. For updating old import users are allowed to select a CSV imported from the file manager to update the records related to that. Also, an option is available to update posts related to CSV directly from the File manager.
More than this another stunning feature added is a partial update. This allows users to update only selected attributes to fields and skip others to update. For example, users can only update spl. price or stock alone for all the products they have. In combination with the scheduled update option, one can automate festival offers and restore back to the prior state as on scheduled date, time.
Static / Dynamic / Formula content import feature.
This is the new feature allows users to add static or dynamic content like formulas to a WP field instead of mapping a CSV header to it. This feature needs more improvements in the future to handle multiple attributes to a single field value etc.
The auto delimiter feature enables us to handle CSV with any delimiter now as far as the CSV is properly formatted and escaped.
Bugs and Issue Fixes
There are several bug fixes implemented in the V4.0 BETA version as well. Issues with Nested category & Nested Taxonomies import has been fixed. Nested Taxonomies with Yoast SEO support has been solved. Implemented minor security fixes, PHP Warnings, and Console Warnings. Migration for all old PRO versions is added. Media Handling image extension issues are solved and improved to handle images as WP does.

WP Ultimate CSV Importer free plugin has again proved as #1 user-friendly csv importer for WordPress with 133,800 + downloads and counting on. And ranked in the top 500 plugin list by rankwp.com with an average ranking of 346.
Now the new version 3.6.5 of free community edition is available with inline post image/media handling feature. This is a feature kept in hold for a long time development pipeline finally available now to the users. This feature allows users to add any no. of images in a post inline body in a csv bulk import as like in normal post creation method does. The images can be referred to as external, internal images. Also, users can upload images related to the csv as a compressed zip along with csv import. To add more flexibility the zip format may be in direct WordPress media folder structure or stripped out plain images in folder root. Hope this will be useful for eCommerce posts, photoblogs, etc. We welcome comments, feedback and feature requests regarding this feature can be
Steps to use inline image/media feature
This feature supports post, page, custom post, WP Commerce, WooCommerce, marketpress, and eShop import modules.
1. Upload the csv file. Enable “Advanced Media handling” and upload the zip file with images.
2. Image zip file should consist of image name same as image name in post content specified in csv.
3. Then map the csv headers with wp fields and click “Next”
4. Enable inline images checkbox. It provides to option.
5. If you specify the image source as name.extension(eg: <img src=’1.jpg’ >) in your csv, it loads an image from uploaded zip file.
6. If you specify the image source as external URL/name.extension (eg: <img src=’https://www.smackcoders.com/user/images/1.jpg’ >) in your csv, it loads an image from external URL.
7. Specify the image path as “https://www.smackcoders.com/user/images”. Dont specify the image name and its extension.
8. Click “Import now” button to import post/product
There are no. of reported issues and bugs are fixed in this release. Some users reported issues with post date format, the imported date get replaced for all published date set for every post to 1970-0-0 00:00 https://wordpress.org/support/topic/post_date-is-not-working. This was evaluated and a fix was updated with 3.6.5. Users may report if this issue exists even after updating the plugin. At the same time, we need our users to add more details to understand and reproduce the issue, which helps us to find a solution or workaround. We really need to thank some of our WordPress users who stand with us and helped us to find the cause of issues. Some even helped us with source to identify the issue and provide a fix to the community.
The default post_date format is in WordPress are “UTC time is 2014-10-24 4:35:22”. You can check in your WordPress general settings under Settings.
You should mention the date format like “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS” or “YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS” in your CSV file. Otherwise, If you mention the date as “12-11-10 12:00:00” in format of “YY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS” (or) “MM-DD-YY HH:MM:SS” (or) “DD-MM-YY HH:MM:SS” means its automatically considered the first two digits as year like in the format of “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS”. Then, the imported date will be like “2012-11-10 12:00:00”.
So, you have to mention the date correct as in the WordPress default format. Here, I have attached the sample CSV & screenshots for the importer reports. Kindly check those and verify with the sample CSV.
More Issue Fixes in the pipeline
There are more issues that still need a fix that was not addressed in this version release. There was an issue reported like conflict other plugins like Groups. Also, a long-known issue is about UTF-8 support not working for custom filed attributes. we found there should be a need for a separate workaround for this feature. So we made a change in our plan to release it as with major release version.
There is a pro version release 3.6.6 is already available. You can check the new version new here.
