To import a Post CSV file select import -> Post from drop down menu.
A CSV (comma-separated values or character-separated values) is a simple text file contains set values in comma separated format with a header.
In general, Headers is the first line in CSV files which have the column name or field name or term related to the data within it.
There are four options to upload your CSV file. It depends on where and how you need the CSV file involved in the import process. Select anyone of the following options.
To upload Post CSV file from your PC/laptop use “upload file” option.
Upload using FTP:
To add files remotely from an FTP location, you can use this option. Provide essential FTP details such as host name, path, FTP user name, FTP password and port number for FTP. By default FTP port is 21. Then click “Download” button to download the file from FTP server to a temporary location. The “Next” button becomes active only after the download process completes.
Upload from external link:
Provide the full URL path of the CSV file where it is located and then click “Download” button to get the CSV file. The “Next” button becomes active only after the download process completes.
Choose file from the server:
You can also use the already uploaded CSV file, by selecting the CSV file from the list of directory locations shown and then import.
Step 1: Click the “browse” button to upload the required Post CSV file to be uploaded from the computer and then click “Import”.
Step2: Map the CSV headers to WP fields using drop down menu. Here some fields are automatically mapped. Make sure that the CSV headers are mapped to the correct field in the WordPress. There are too many attributes which are not necessary for your WordPress CSV import. You can just skip those fields other than core fields.
“Mapping is the way users match and relate each CSV header or column name to relevant WordPress field listed in drop down”.
After the completion of mapping press “next”.
The next page will give you the report of mapped and unmapped fields.
Click “proceed Import”
There are two options. You can choose either “import right away” or “schedule now”
If you select “import right away” it will import immediately else select “schedule now” to import later. In this option, you should give the details when you want to import this file by specifying schedule date, schedule time, schedule frequency options.
You can also mention the number of records that need to be imported on each request of the server in the ‘no of posts/rows per server request option’.
“Detect duplicate post content” and “detect duplicate post title” options will detect duplicates and skip it from importing.
Press “import now”
Wait until the Post is imported successfully. If your post is imported successfully then that’ll display a message like “import successfully completed” at the top.
After successful completion, you can see the detailed log that is generated for every imported record.
Unique record id is generated for every Post in the record.
You can verify by pressing “web view” or “admin view”.
“Web view” will show you the front end and “admin view” will show you the back end.
